This was a great product, Daron. Thank you. Craigslist keeps shooting themselves in the foot. I'll miss the ability to quickly tell the skanks from the babes in the erotic services ads. Starting yesterday, they are now charging those chicks five bucks an ad and asking for a credit card to post on there. Lots of girls gonna be back on the streets...

Thanks for the service, fun while it lasted...thought you would be tolerated CL, not divulging visitor IP, etc. like other banned trackers did.
Another service your site could serve, would be a source of info on "home brew" tracking methods that should be less prone to banning, wherein a poster links an image from their own site, using server log info to track access.
Ideally someone would provide some supplemental log code that would provide your sort of code.

OH NO. Without CL Search we have to go back to the basic click by line to view. CL Search was great because you got to view the pictures related to your search at a glance and when you saw multiple of the exact picture it was so easy to pick out the spammers and the fraudlant sellers. Without CL Search's preview the Craiglist community are more vulnerable to the sellers to be ware of. Thanks to Daron, hopefully Craigslist will understand the value CL Search was bringing to all of us.

As for the Cease and Desist, this is only valid if signed by a judge after a fair trial. No third party has the authority to demand someone else to shut down because it is 'inconvenient' for them.
I would ask craigslist to site the US code requiring you to do something that you dont want to. Or, give the site away to someone that knows the law, or set up your software on a offshore server.

I've been a big fan of craigslist and use it regularly. I used the CLSearch and CLBrowser tools from www.CLHits.com to assist me with my searching. These tools would inject the photos people had taken of their goods and return them as search results. These tools are no longer available due to a recent "Cease and Desist" letter to the program author saying that the tools put too much load on
the craigslist servers and network connections.
I would not mind paying a monthly fee if I were allowed to use these tools on a separate set of servers that were dedicated for these tools to run. It is worth it to me to spend a few bucks a month to save hours of time drilling down into multiple postings just to see one photo at a time. Please consider that several other users may also be willing to pay a monthly fee to be able to have the convenience of seeing photos returned as search results. A picture is worth so much more than the single line posting summarys that are currenty being returned from a craigslist search. It takes a lot of effort to guess which ones might have what I am looking for.
I think craigslist should remain free to use for those who wish to continue having the basic text search results returned.
Thank you.
